Either because they were physically not able to attend school, or because their trauma made it impossible for them to learn and engage. The kids often feel frustrated and hopeless about school because of the large gaps in their educational experience. It’s wonderful to see them come to life as they discover the joy of learning and that they CAN learn! And we all know that a good education opens doors! It opens doors to the possibilities in life.
