Sharon Wood, Executive Director
Sharon's involvement with New Day for Children began in December 2014, when she learned that a 12-year-old girl in her Sunday school class was being trafficked for sex. Devastated but determined to take action, she turned to New Day for help—and has been deeply committed to the mission ever since. Sharon initially served as a volunteer and later as a board member before becoming Executive Director in 2017. Sharon has been married to her high school sweetheart, Phil Wood, for 45 years. Together, they have three adult children and one cherished granddaughter.
Prior to dedicating her life to serving children recovering from sex trafficking, Sharon was a professional violinist. At first glance, the two roles may seem worlds apart—but her years of performing taught her discipline, poise under pressure, and the power of connecting with an audience. These qualities now serve her well as she fearlessly steps into public spaces to advocate, speak, and raise awareness for New Day for Children. From the stage to the frontlines of advocacy, Sharon continues to use her voice to bring hope and healing to the most vulnerable.
