Off To College Living My Dream

Child sex trafficking survivor graduation

In the big scheme of things, a few years is not a very long time, and yet...because of New Day Donors...over the last three and a half years everything, literally EVERYTHING has changed for me.

I was born in the Bay Area to evil parents who had me so they could sell me for sex. They sold me to countless men and it started when I was about three years old. Then one day as we were driving around Oakland, my birth mother pulled the car over, told me to get out, and never came back. I’m nine years old, alone and homeless. Life on the streets was very hard and it wasn’t long before another trafficker found me.

Then New Day for Children came into my life on January 9, 2018 and changed everything. Don’t get me wrong, the journey has not been an easy one, and healing is never a straight path. There have been many ups and downs and difficult times, but because I had wonderful support along the way I can honestly say that today my life is good. Like REALLY good. I just graduated high school with honors, I received a full scholarship to college, AND I received a National Scholarship - there were over 300,000 applicants! The scholarship is for kids who have overcome great adversity in life. I am physically healthy for the first time in years thanks to two long surgeries donated by Shriners Hospital. I have a loving and wonderful family, I am off to college in August, I just took a road trip with a girlfriend across the country and I am going on my first real date with a very nice young man. What’s not to love?!

New Day will forever hold a special place in my heart and please know that I appreciate all that the donors sacrificed and gave so that I can have a bright future. I don’t know exactly what it will look like, but I do know that God does. Thank you all for blessing me and helping me along in my journey for these past three and a half years! Because of your prayers, your encouragement, and your faithful support, I can reach my dreams and help other girls who were trafficked like me.

I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you

and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

With much love and appreciation,

“Gabbi”
