My work as a therapist for New Day for Children focuses primarily on attachment - the need we are all born with to form close, emotionally safe bonds. Tragically, traffickers prey on this innate need.

When a child is trafficked, there is trauma that impacts both the child, and the family unit. In response to this, we're developing a program for parents and caregivers called PATH - Parental Awareness of Trauma, Trafficking and Healing.

Sex trafficking is often misunderstood in America. We may think of it as an “over there” problem, blame the kids, or have pictures from the movies in our head of people being thrown into cars and tires screeching as they’re kidnapped off the streets. Hold up your hand and we’ll use it to gain a clearer understanding of how trafficking most often happens…

Our first horse camp since 2019 and great to be back! There was laughter, tears, joy, fear and courage. In other words…healing happened. When we first meet the wranglers and the horses, the girls are excited, but also apprehensive.

One of my favorite moments of that inner child coming out was one day when I took the girls to the pond, somehow it turned into us catching frogs for an hour.

In the big scheme of things, a few years is not a very long time, and yet...because of New Day Donors...over the last three and a half years everything, literally EVERYTHING has changed for me.
